The electricians are finished for now, and I need to get the drywaller to come in and patch a few things up. The electricians did awesome in my opinion since no one fell through the ceiling- Yay! This happened to our friends and I was a little worried about it.
The designer dropped off some tile samples to choose from- since the carpet is worn, I'll be tiling the front room, hallway and kitchen... and maybe the dining room but that's still undecided.
We need to meet with the cabinet maker this week and see if his ideas are what we have in mind. He's been out to the house, but since that time we have considered pulling out the old pantry and replacing that with cabinets as well.
Lots to think about... and not freak myself out-- quite trick in itself.

One thing leads to another.... and another... and another
I find myself fascinated lately as I realize how everything in life seems to be one giant snowball. You change one thing and that creates a need for something else to change, which creates another change and so on. My brain has crazy conversations with itself just trying to sort and organize what each change will create- cause and effect I guess. And I stand in the middle, paralyzed by over analysis... I'm afraid I've been working too hard to control some of this stuff and need to just let it go and enjoy the ride. In this blog, you'll find my hodge podge of thoughts, actions and outcomes... and some of this stuff might be pretty good :)
We've been talking about how much the house interior needed to be painted and when I was laid off from my job of 9 years in January, I decided that I would hire myself to paint it while I looked for work. I've painted before- a room, a hallway, can't be too big of a deal-- right? yea, except that I wanted something new- no more white walls, the carpet looks BAD and new paint will only emphasize the old carpet. And what color(s) to go with.
If I paint the front room, I need to continue with the hallway and kitchen, since the ceiling is a continuation with no stopping point. Hmmmm..... if I paint the kitchen, it would really be nice if we could open that space up by moving the refrigerator. If I move the refrigerator-- I need new cabinets where the refrig was. Can you see my dilemma? So, it's been a few months and not a drop of paint on the walls yet. And you are probably getting the idea of what's happening. So-- I needed a kick start and hired a designer to come in a give me some ideas about what my starting point needed to be.
So today I'm starting a blog, while waiting for the electricians (yes, you heard me right) install can lighting throughout the kitchen, family room, front room and hallway. The designer picked up right away how dark the house was and in addition to helping with paint colors, suggested adding can lighting before the paint goes on. I think it's quite an improvement and it had not occured to me to add can lights- but I'm excited about how nice it's looking. It's a start. Next, I need to get the drywall around the lights patched and we are getting closer to paint!
